I’m back from a long break and this week I’m joined by Giantbomb.com Video Producer Jan Jerome Ochoa. Listen as Jan talks about becoming a fan during the “Attitude Era”, how Triple H made him irrationally hate sledgehammers, and what it was like when NJPW invaded the legendary Cow Palace earlier this month. There is so much good content in this episode, why are you still reading this?

Kayfabe Forever: My Wrestling Story – Aaron Trites from League of Heels – 06/22/18

What happens when you combine the worlds of video game media and video game wrestling? My guest this week is Aaron Trites from League of Heels and he dared to ask this question 5 years ago and has lived to tell the tale. Find out how young Aaron fell in love with wrestling through a book, how college-era Aaron got interested in Kaiju Big Battel, and how Xavier Woods and Kenny Omega got involved with League of Heels. Plus, find out one unique change he would make to the current WWE. There’s a lot here, so get listening!

Kayfabe Forever, Episode 14 06/15/18: Owen Hart Remembered

In this episode, I celebrate the career of the late Owen Hart. Join me as I look at the many highs of the man I refer to as “probably your favorite wrestler’s favorite wrestler” and talk about the legacy left by his untimely accidental death.

THE LINKS!

I posted a thread on Reddit asking for the best Owen matches and a bunch of Redditors came through with suggestions. Check them out for yourself!

Martha Hart wrote a book on Owen’s life and career. You can buy it here.

Here is a link to Bret’s book on Amazon as well.

Owen: Hart of Gold is one of the best ways to see Owen’s greatest matches and learn about his life. It’s a bit glossy, since it is a WWE product, but worth watching.

Here it is listeners: the first of 2 new episodes this week! Join me as I chat with Kenny Herzog from The Ringer about his “Wrestling Story”. Kenny talks about growing up during the WWF/E’s heyday in the 80’s and 90’s, how he got into wrestling journalism, and if he thinks WWE fears New Japan even a little. Kenny has some interesting opinions and he shares a bunch of them with me! Also, keep an eye out for the nearly-lost Owen Hart episode that drops tomorrow. You won’t want to miss either episode, so hit play NOW!

I’m sure you’ve found yourself wondering exactly how someone else became a wrestling fan. Well, I’ve decided to start asking that very question (along with some others) and I’ll be bringing you those interviews on this Kayfabe Forever series that I’m calling “My Wrestling Story”. My guest this week is the Internet’s own Jared Rea who will join me and tell his wrestling story. Find out how he became a fan, what he would change about the current WWE product, and why he loves Velveteen Dream SO DAMN MUCH! We had such a good time, we had to cut this one short!

Kayfabe Forever, Episode 13 04/06/18: WELCOME TO WRESTLEMANIA (WEEKEND)!

Unlike the stupidity surrounding the potential Undertaker and John Cena match, I’m not just teasing, I’m delivering! Join me as I talk myself into picking winners for every single match across this weekend’s most high-profile events: NXT Takeover: New Orleans and Wrestlemania 34. I also get a little cranky when talking about the battle royals and again towards the end when I discuss the whole Undertaker/Cena thing, so apologies in advance! Kayfabe Forever Episode 13: It’s What the World Is Listening To!

Kayfabe Forever, Episode 12 03/30/18: Wrestlemania XIV 20th Anniversary Edition

With the height of wrestling season upon us, while others may Punch Out!!!, I’m punching in to bring you this week’s episode celebrating the 20th Anniversary of Wrestlemania XIV. I’ll take you through all the highs (Undertaker/Kane!!!), lows (Marco? Mero!), and groans (Gennifer Flowers) of this truly industry-changing event.

Fightful’s Brandon Howard wrote an excellent piece about Wrestlemania’s Business Stats that I found very insightful and it provided me with the financial info I mention about WMXIV early in the show. You should read it!

Here is the video of Undertaker’s WMXIV entrance featuring “O Fortuna”. So very cool.

An incredible promo featuring some great wrestling stars from the WWF’s early days. I forgot to mention Killer Kowalski is featured in this video, too. Watch it and know that  Vinny Mac’s eyes will well up with tears!

I mentioned that I’m writing an opinion column for NODQ.com now. Check them out over here!

Kayfabe Forever, Episode 11 – 03/24/18: Between The Rock and a Stone Cold Place

Oh hell yeah! Kayfabe Forever is back from a work-induced hiatus with the story of most electrifying trilogy of Wrestlemania matches in the history of sports entertainment: The Austin/Rock trilogy! I’ll take you from the roots of this rivalry as an IC title feud all the way through Austin’s final match at WMXIX, with plenty of clips included so you can experience again the moments as they happened. We’re on the Road to Wrestlemania, but take a detour down Jabroni Dr and stop off at the Smackdown Hotel.

THE LINKS!

The best thing Limp Bizkit ever did was allow their songs to be used by WWE. This promo package for the Wrestlemania X7 match between Austin and Rock is awesome. Watch it here!

One of the best sing alongs in the history of sing alongs. This is the full segment that is not available on “The Network” currently.

“The Mania of Wrestlemania” is one of the best things the WWE has ever produced and clearly influenced the popular 24/7 series on “The Network”. In addition to the behind the scenes stuff with Rock and Austin, there are some candid moments from the Undertaker, Kurt Angle, and Brock Lesnar. It’s worth your time.
